Locums - Potsdam, New York | NP/PA Gastroenterology Opportunity
Clinical Role
RecruitWell is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full-time locums Gastroenterology opportunity in Potsdam, New York. The provider will evaluate and manage adult patients with a wide range of acute and chronic gastrointestinal and internal medicine conditions while collaborating closely with physicians and the broader clinical team.

Full-time assignment
Adult patient population
Gastroenterology/Internal Medicine practice setting
Patient ratio: Approximately 14-18 patients per provider
Schedule & Coverage Monday-Friday
8:00 am-4:00 pm
Practice Setting & Case Mix Gastroenterology/Internal Medicine practice
Adult patients with a wide variety of acute medical conditions
Evaluate new and established medical concerns
Manage chronic conditions and ongoing treatment plans
Refer complex or high-priority cases to collaborating physicians as appropriate
Practice Model & Clinical Expectations Evaluate and manage patient medical problems
Request specialty consultations when clinically indicated
Provide preventive care education
Educate patients and families regarding:
Medical conditions
Treatment plans
Prescribed medications
Preventive care
Prescribe and monitor medications relevant to the patient's diagnosis
Provide appropriate medical and emergency interventions
Order and monitor emergency interventions as clinically appropriate
Collaborate with physicians regarding:
Complex diagnostic concerns
Serious illnesses
Complicated therapeutic issues
Re-evaluation of chronic medical conditions
Maintain appropriate coding and billing documentation
Participate in physician, peer, and quality review processes
Implement recommendations and directives based on clinical protocols and quality standards
Documentation & Compliance Document medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations
Maintain documentation consistent with:
NCQA standards
The Joint Commission standards
New York regulatory requirements
Evidence-based standards of care
Maintain documentation compliance for accurate coding and billing
Support & Systems 1 provider
1 Nurse Practitioner
1 LPN
Anesthesia support available with each procedure
EMR: Epic
Automated medication dispensing system: Pyxis
Requirements & Credentialing Active New York State license required
AHA BLS required
Minimum 3 years of recent relevant experience required
Strong Gastroenterology knowledge and clinical experience
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team
