Job description
A healthcare facility in Clovis, CA is seeking two dedicated pharmacists for a 12-week contract assignment, with the possibility to transition to permanent roles. This opportunity focuses on providing critical pharmacy services within a Long Term Care setting (PV1 and PV2 units). The position starts ASAP and offers a Monday to Friday schedule from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., with no weekend shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately.
Monitor patient medication compliance and identify over-usage patterns.
Ensure all medication supplies comply with legal requirements.
Verify the suitability of prescribed medicines for patients.
Maintain detailed and confidential patient and pharmacy records.
Advise patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer queries.
Provide consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including storage, dosage, and drug interactions.
Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation counseling, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
Educate patients on the proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
Compound medications for internal and external use, including preparation of sterile solutions.
Supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacy technicians and clerks.
Manage inventories of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy interns, and other healthcare professionals to address drug-related issues.
Desired Qualifications: Valid California pharmacist license.
Previous experience in retail pharmacy is welcomed; training provided for candidates transitioning from retail.
Strong communication and supervisory skills.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to patient safety and compliance.
