Job description
Classroom Assistant
Working under the direction of the classroom teacher to:
Assist individual students with learning tasks assigned by the teacher.
Assist students in small group learning situations as assigned by the classroom teacher.
Supervise seat work while teacher is working with small groups.
Assist the teacher with other instruction-related tasks.
Assist with student supervision outside the classroom in activities such as emergency drills and community based outings.
Assist with any other duties directed by the school administrators as they would relate to instruction of students.
Minimum Training and Experience Required:
Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; or
Obtained an associate's (or higher) degree; or
Meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness).
