A vacancy exists for a Long-Term Substitute School Counselor to work at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit within the Office of Student Services.
Qualifications
Valid PA Certification in School Counseling K-12 required
Knowledge of Act 339 planning and implementation and Act 158 graduation requirements required
Experience with secondary school population preferred
Experience working in a residential facility for youth and young adults preferred
Current police, child abuse and FBI Fingerprint clearances required
Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by MCIU upon hire)
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide guidance and counseling services to students, specifically in the areas of career readiness and developing workforce readiness skills
Program includes personal, academic, career development, counseling and consultation services to students, teachers, and school administration.
Provide individual and group sessions with a focus on career readiness, workforce development skills, consultation services, and training.
Prepare comprehensive education plans for individual students based on transcripts and desired goals and outcomes of student.
Monitor educational plans for students and provide support and guidance as needed to assist students to meet their goals and desired outcomes.
Location
The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located in Norristown, PA and provides services to students in School Age K-12 classrooms located throughout Montgomery County, PA. For additional information about the MCIU Student Services, please visit:
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 10 months (194 days/year)
Salary
Bachelor's, Step 1: $53,997/year
Master's, Step 1: $65,007/year
*Placement on salary schedule based on experience and/or education beyond the Master's Degree.
