A Brief Overview \ N
Responsible for assisting the Registered Nurse in implementing the plan of care for a group of patients and functioning in a technical role in providing quality patient care. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.\ N
What you willdo \ N Contributes to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting, and recording objective and subjective data.
\ N Provides direct care ina safe manner.
\ N Evaluation of the plan of care on a continuous basis.
\ N Effectively communicates in writing and orally with patients/families and other health team members.
\ N Participates in activities designed to improve health care delivery in assigned area.

Education/Formal Training Requirements \ N
Required -Technical Degree or Diploma Nursing

Work Experience Requirements \ N
Preferred - No prior work experience

Licenses and Certifications Requirements \ N
Required -BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - American Heart Association
\ N Required - Licensed Practical Nurse - Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Nursing

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities \ N
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with patients, patient families and physicians in a tactful and professional manner.
\ N Ability to begin the patient visit with eye contact, smile and greeting, while using the patient’s name.
\ N Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
\ N Performs computer skills demonstrated by successful navigation of the EMR with appropriate documentation. Demonstrates ability to review computer reports following evidenced based guidelines.
\ N Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
\ N
Supervision Provided by this Position \ N
There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this position.

Physical Demands \ N
The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
\ N Must have good balance and coordination.
\ N The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
\ N The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures;
transcribing;
viewing a computer terminal;
or extensive reading.
\ N Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
\ N Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
\ N Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
