Job Overview
Essentia Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse or Certified Medical Assistant to serve in our family practice at Baxter Clinic. The position works 7:30am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with one weekday off. No weekend, holiday, or on‑call rotations are required.
Responsibilities
Assist RN, physicians, and other providers and provide direct patient care in an ambulatory care setting.
Perform identified procedures for which competencies have been demonstrated.
Care for patients ranging from newborn to elderly.
Perform routine assessments (vital signs, patient histories, symptom observation).
Support physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and minor procedures.
Administer prescribed medications, including injections and oral drugs, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Assist in coordinating follow‑up appointments and referrals.
Conduct initial patient intake processes (medical histories, personal information, prepare for examination).
Qualifications
Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Minnesota.
Current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant, or verifiable completion of a Medical Assistant Program; must become certified within one year, passing within two attempts.
AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
Education required for licensure.
Compensation
Hourly rate: $21.72 – $32.58.
