Local rate is 40% less - candidate must be 60 miles or greater to be considered travel

JOB SUMMARY Provides diabetes education, consultation and evaluation of patient and program outcomes. Minimum education Associates degree in NursingORBachelors degree in Dietetics*Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education. Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able towork in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Certifications/ Licenses: Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)Registered Dietitian Certification OR Registered Nurse (RN) in State of MichiganCertified Diabetes Educator (CDE) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Independently writes, communicates, and implements teaching interventions for patients, families, significant others.Delivers educational material using teaching principals and a variety of formats for new pediatric inpatients andoutpatients in group and individual sessions.Delivers educational material appropriate for identified needs utilizing knowledge of growth and development foroutpatients in group and individual sessions.Assists to maintain diabetes supplies.Provides back up and assists other staff as necessary. NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assist with orientation and training of personnel and students.Participates and attends meetings as required and/ or assigned.Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.Prepares periodic reports as requested.
