ANTICIPATED LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE TEACHER – SPEECH TEACHER
nLeave Coverage September - December 2026.
nSALARY: $49,275 Base /Year plus stipends for Master’s Degree and Grad Hours and additional benefits as outlined in the NTA Contract
nSTART DATE: September 2026
nThe Speech Language Pathologist Teacher Position is responsible for instruction to their assigned students with Speech needs, follow New York State Learning Standards, build a positive learning environment, attend to student accountability, maintain accurate and reliable records of student progress, and maintain regular communication and outreach to students’ families.

nnnPrepare lessons that align to the NYS learning standards
n
nnEffectively plan, teach, and assess lessons designed to meet the needs of individual students and the NYS learning standards
n
nnDifferentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of each student, as outlined in their IEPs and individual needs
n
nnCreate an organized classroom with clear expectations and procedures
n
nnAnalyze various points of data and modify instructional goals that promote the highest level of student learning
n
nnParticipate in student meetings with Newark staff and family members
n
nnCommunicate regularly with family members, keeping them informed of their child’s progress
n
nnPerforming such other duties as may be assigned by the Building Principal as deemed necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

n nNYS Teacher Certification- Teacher of Students with Speech-Language Disabilities (TSSLD) or Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH); NYS Speech-Language Pathology License/CF Candidates encouraged to apply

nnPERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

n nGood knowledge of student development at the appropriate school level. Hold high and clear expectations for students and self. Be able to work effectively with a variety of staff and community groups. Possess a classroom management style which fosters a student effort and accountability. Knowledge of curriculum and the instructional practices. Operate in a respectful, responsible manner.
