Correctional Facility Healthcare Contract (36 hr/week) 06/20/2026 - 09/19/2026 $39 hr
Position Summary
Provides nursing services, treatments, and diagnostic/preventive procedures for inmate patients within a correctional healthcare setting.
Qualifications Required:
Education
Graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse program
Experience - 1+ years in ANY of the following:
Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC)
Long Term Acute Care (LTAC/LTACH)
Medical/Surgical (Med-Surg)
Licenses/Certifications - ANY of the following required:
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - active Texas license
IV Therapy Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Overview:
Schedule & Positions Available
8 Day Shift LVN positions (Full-Time)
Rotating 4:3 schedule
Shift start times: 04:30, 05:00, 05:30, or 05:45
Key Responsibilities
Interpret physicians' orders and administer prescribed medication
Assist physician with sick call when present; independently observe and assess signs/symptoms when physician is not present
Apply surgical dressings and bandages
Provide emergency first aid care
Check and record vital signs
Report reactions to treatments/medications and changes in patients' emotional or physical condition
Instruct inmates on discharge planning and health care education
May supervise and instruct correctional staff on inmate health care needs
Consult with supervisor on complex or problem cases
Check and order medical supplies
Maintain accurate medical records
