Machine Operator 1st ShiftRadford, Virginia, United StatesProduction & Skilled TradesFull timeOn-sitePosition OverviewWe are seeking a Machine Operator to operate and maintain manufacturing equipment while ensuring precision, quality, and safety in production processes. In this role, you will set up and run machine tools, perform inspections, and monitor production outputs to meet tight tolerances and specifications. You will play a key role in maintaining equipment, identifying issues, and supporting efficient manufacturing operations.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate machine tools such as CNC lathes, machining centers, drill presses, grinders, punch presses, or similar equipmentSet up equipment and perform minor repairs, adjustments, and calibrations as requiredPerform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure adherence to specifications and tolerancesMonitor feeds, speeds, and machining conditions to maintain quality and dimensional accuracyRead and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documentationDetect and report defective materials or abnormal machine conditionsPerform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and upkeepDispose of scrap and waste materials in compliance with company and environmental standardsMaintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment and follow all safety proceduresRequired Skills and QualificationsAbility to operate and maintain machine tools and equipmentAbility to read and interpret drawings with minimal supervisionBasic knowledge of inspection tools and measurement techniquesStrong attention to detail and ability to maintain high precision standardsGood communication and teamwork skillsAbility to work independently and complete tasks within time limitsPreferred Skills and QualificationsAssociates degree or diploma in Machine Technology or related fieldExperience with CNC equipment and basic NC programmingKnowledge of trigonometry and advanced measurement techniquesExperience working in a manufacturing or machining environmentExperience maintaining tight tolerancesPhysical Demand and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands and work environmental characteristics described here are representative of those an employee must meet, with or without reasonable accommodation, to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
