Job description

Machine OperatorThis role operates press machines, press brakes, and related industrial equipment to form, bend, and shape metal components according to precise specifications. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will interpret technical documentation, perform inspections, and support continuous improvement while working both independently and as part of a team.ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate press machines and CNC/manual press brake equipment to form, bend, and shape metal components according to specifications.Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate and precise production.Adjust machine settings, tooling, and fixtures to achieve required dimensions and tolerances.Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and tape measures.Monitor machine performance and product output to ensure consistent quality and adherence to production standards.Troubleshoot minor mechanical and operational issues and make appropriate adjustments to maintain production efficiency.Conduct routine maintenance and keep machines and equipment in good working condition.Handle raw materials and finished products, including loading and unloading metal components safely and efficiently.Use hand tools and measuring devices to support production, setup, and quality verification tasks.Maintain accurate production and quality records, documenting measurements, inspections, and any adjustments made.Follow all safety guidelines, OSHA standards, and company procedures while working in a manufacturing environment.Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in line with 5S standards.Perform repetitive tasks, including frequent bending, lifting, and material handling, while maintaining focus on quality and safety.Essential SkillsAt least 2 years of experience operating press machines, press brakes, or similar industrial manufacturing equipment, preferably in automotive, aggregates, or heavy manufacturing environments.Strong understanding of metal forming processes and the operation of related machinery.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.Experience using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and tape measures.Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and troubleshoot minor mechanical or operational issues.Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to quality standards.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks safely and efficiently.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with or without assistance).Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with noise and varying temperatures.Willingness to perform frequent bending, lifting, and handling of materials.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in automotive, aggregates, or heavy manufacturing settings.Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.Experience working within 5S standards to maintain organized and efficient workspaces.Comfort using a variety of hand tools in a production environment.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and documentation.Reliable attendance and the ability to adhere to established attendance and notification procedures.Why Work Here?You will have the opportunity to grow your skills and cross-train on multiple types of machines, expanding your technical capabilities and career potential. The building includes large overhead cranes throughout the production area, and work takes place around heavy industrial equipment and metal components. Break areas, restrooms, and office spaces are air-conditioned to provide a comfortable place for rest and administrative tasks. The environment includes typical manufacturing noise levels and varying temperatures, and the work involves frequent standing, bending, lifting, and material handling. Multiple shifts are available, including first shift (6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.), second shift (2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.), and third shift (10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.), providing structured schedules in a production-focused setting. Attendance is managed through a defined point system with clear expectations for tardiness, absences, and communication, supporting a consistent and reliable work culture.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
