Machine Operator – Seco SlitterTurn Precision Materials Into Exactly What the Customer NeedsAt Elmet Technologies, precision manufacturing depends on operators who understand both the equipment and the material.As a Machine Operator – Seco Slitter, you will set up and operate specialized equipment used to slit, shear, and level refractory metal materials to customer specifications. You'll use measurements, calculations, and your own judgment to determine how material should be processed while maximizing quality and material efficiency.This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on manufacturing, working with industrial equipment, and developing specialized skills in precision metals production.What You Can Build HereBenefits starting Day One, including medical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and paid company holidaysTuition assistance and professional development opportunitiesHands-on experience with specialized slitting, shearing, and leveling equipmentOpportunities to build skills in precision measurement, equipment setup, and material processingExperience working with advanced refractory metals and close-tolerance manufacturingA direct role in improving material utilization and supporting production throughout the facilityCareer development and growth opportunities within Elmet TechnologiesWhat You Will DoYou will set up and operate slitting, shearing, and leveling equipment to process finished orders and in-process material used by other manufacturing operations.Your work will include:Set up the slitter to required dimensions using measurements and conversion calculationsOperate slitting equipment to process material according to order specificationsCoil or stack processed material and move it to the appropriate operationSet up and operate equipment to level finished orders and in-process materialShear material according to customer and production specificationsPlan how orders should be cut to maximize material efficiencyCheck material gauge and surface condition before processing beginsVisually inspect finished work and verify that material meets established quality standardsUse micrometers and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and product qualityIdentify unacceptable material and communicate concerns to your supervisor or QualityMaintain accurate production records and material informationPerform equipment setups requiring accurate calculations for close-tolerance outputOperate lift and material-handling equipment to safely move and position materialPerform preventive maintenance and routine equipment inspectionsMonitor the condition of slitter knives, spacers, fingers, pads, and other operating componentsCoordinate with supervisors and Maintenance when tooling or equipment requires repair or replacementMaintain a clean, safe, and organized work area following 6S practicesSupport other production activities as manufacturing needs requireAbout YouYou understand that running production equipment involves more than pushing a button. Good operators understand their material, know what the finished product should look like, make accurate setup decisions, and recognize when something is not right.You may be a strong fit if you bring:A high school diploma, GED, or equivalentManufacturing or industrial production experienceStrong basic math skills, including fractions and decimalsExperience using micrometers or other precision measuring toolsMechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial equipmentThe ability to perform accurate calculations for equipment setup and close-tolerance workStrong attention to detail and product qualityThe ability to follow work orders, specifications, and established proceduresSound judgment when evaluating material and finished product qualityA commitment to safe work practices and proper equipment operationThe ability to work independently while contributing to the broader production teamOne to two years of experience in a sheet metal, metals manufacturing, or similar industrial environment is a plus.Defining SuccessSuccess in this role means producing material accurately and efficiently while protecting quality, equipment, and the value of the material being processed.You will be successful when:Slit, sheared, and leveled material consistently meets customer and production specificationsEquipment setups and calculations produce accurate, close-tolerance resultsMaterial is processed efficiently to maximize usable product and minimize unnecessary scrapMaterial gauge and surface quality are verified before processingQuality concerns are identified before unacceptable material moves further through productionProduction records are accurate and completeEquipment is operated safely and properly cared forPreventive maintenance needs are identified before they become equipment failuresProcessed material reaches the correct downstream operation when neededYour work area remains clean, safe, and organizedAdditional Tools in Your Toolbox May IncludePrevious experience in sheet metal or metals manufacturing can help you get up to speed quickly.Additional experience that can help you succeed includes:Slitting, shearing, leveling, or metal-forming equipmentSheet metal or coil processingMicrometers and precision measuring equipmentClose-tolerance manufacturingForklifts, lifts, or other material-handling equipmentEquipment setup and changeoversPreventive maintenance and basic equipment troubleshootingMaterial optimization and scrap reduction6S, Lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement practicesThis Is Hands-On Manufacturing WorkThis position works directly with industrial machinery, metal materials, and material-handling equipment on the manufacturing floor.You should be comfortable working around moving machinery, heat, chemicals, and other conditions associated with an active manufacturing environment.
