Job description
Job TitleOperates and observes packaging equipment to ensure food safety, product quality and conformity meeting customer standards and specifications.Actively participates in startup, troubleshooting, adjustment, stop/reset and shutdown of line equipment.Clears jams and reports malfunctions to Supervisor as necessary.Performs changeovers, completes line clears and accurately sets up next item's packaging and coding.Applies appropriate labels to secondary packages and completed finished goods pallets.Reports out of standard/specification results to the Quality Department and Supervisor.Reports unsafe conditions or other compliance issues to the Supervisor.Maintains accurate and detailed work log (including work orders) and inventory records.Monitors and reviews inventory and production levels to achieve the most efficient operating conditions.Maintains assigned work area and production environment in clean orderly condition - completes environmental cleaning requirements as necessary.Actively participates in shift exchanges and work team meetings.Assist maintenance staff with troubleshooting and repairs.Work with respect for the company and the company property (be professional). Understand the Good Manufacturing Practices.Load and unload items from machines, pallets and totes.Basic understanding of weights and measure.Available for overtime including weekends when necessary.Continuous standing in one location for long periods.Many jobs have fixed workstation locations and are conveyor line paced.Walking long distances sometimes on uneven and slippery surfaces.Climbing or moving on steps, walkways, and platforms.Lifting, Carrying, lowering of heavy and/or awkward objects. Lifting and lowering of objects up to 50lbs. Pushing or pulling of heavy roller carts, bins, or transport containers.Wearing, using, and maintaining personal protective equipment (PPE).Safe handling of sharp cutting tools.Being able to understand and follow oral and written instruction from supervisors and designated staff.Additional essential functions may be applicable to specific jobs including but not limited to: packing, stacking, etc.Qualifications to Perform This Job SuccessfullyAn individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Must take and pass Henry Broch reading comprehension test.High School Diploma or equivalent experience.Fluency in English – speak, read, and write.Basic math skills.Must have an understanding of completing required paperwork.Good organizational skills.Follow OSHA safety requirements.Food background requiredBRC Requirements/Responsibilities:Maintain food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner.Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.Must follow GMP's and attend all mandatory trainings provided by the company.
