Machine Shop OperatorDuPont's Newark, DE, site has an exciting opportunity for a Machine Shop Operator.The Machine Shop Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a wide range of machine tools, both CNC and manual grinders and lathes. The Machine Shop operator will work from and read prints as well as setting and checking work to various quality control gauges while maintaining safe work practices at all times. This position will be responsible for, but not limited to:Sets up and operates manual and CNC equipmentUses precision gaugesManages multiple projects at one timeCalculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speeds, feed and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control systemsStarts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as requiredLeads projects to improve productivity within the shopContributes to DuPont Production Systems implementation within the shopTrains teammatesLeads problem solving sessions with a team to minimize repeat errors.Successful candidate will need to be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation. Candidates must also pass job related assessments. In order to be qualified for this role, the following is required:High School Diploma or GEDLicensed Machinist with 2-3 years of experience or 5+ years of machine shop experienceProficient in setup and operation of CNC lathes and mills with Fanuc style controllers.Proficient in shop math, including geometry and conversionsDemonstrated ability to read blueprints and understand toleranceExcellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills, including equipmentDependability and willingness to work overtime, including evenings and weekendsDue to Federal Government Export Control and ITAR requirements, candidates for this position must be either a US Citizen or US Permanent ResidentWilling and able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses, steel toes and hearing protectionA minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States; Visa sponsorship/support or relocation assistance are not available for this position.DuPont is an equal opportunity employer.
