Job description
Machinist ApprenticePrimary Function: The Machinist Apprentice will support the production of components for Grote's food processing equipment while developing the skills needed to become a full-time Machinist. This role is designed for individuals with some machining experience who are looking to grow their capabilities in a hands-on, production environment focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Assist in setup and operation of CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipmentSupport machinists in producing parts according to specifications and work instructionsLearn to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and setup documentationUse measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.) to verify part accuracyInspect parts and ensure conformance to quality standardsMaintain a clean and organized work areaIdentify and communicate issues related to machining, tooling, or part qualityFollow all safety procedures and guidelinesPerform other duties as assignedQualifications:Some hands-on experience in a machine shop environment (school or work)Basic exposure to mills, lathes, or CNC equipmentWillingness to learn and develop machining skillsBasic understanding of machining concepts and tooling preferredAbility to read and interpret blueprints (preferred but not required)Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn from feedbackSelf-motivated with a strong work ethicAbility to read, write, and communicate effectively in EnglishBasic computer skillsPreferred:Trade school or technical training in machining or manufacturingFamiliarity with CNC machining environmentsPhysical Requirements:Standing for extended periodsReaching, lifting, and moving materials and componentsAbility to lift up to 35 poundsWorking around machinery and equipment
