Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to perform duties as a Mail Clerk, the duties which are related to clerical work and the processing of incoming and outgoing mail, correspondence, and/or the arrangement of records for storage or reference purposes.
Responsibilities
Major duties include, but not limited to: Internal distribution, mail analysis, processing of outgoing mail, controlled mail and facility education. Processes incoming and outgoing mail, including the processing of express mail. Operates, adjusts, and monitors the operation of single or multiple function equipment such as mail processing machines, etc. Operates photocopy machines to make legal or standard size copies of photocopy work as directed. Responsible for receiving and dispatching mail of varying volumes, depending on the project and priority. Logs patient checks for proper delivery, screens outgoing materials for proper format, and assures they are assembled and addressed in accordance with appropriate regulations. Routes mail to more than 150 distribution points. Processes mail for metering via accounts set up to track expenditures by service. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/07/2026. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: General Experience: You must have one year of general experience in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. This experience must be progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates your ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the Mail Clerk position. - OR - Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 2 years of education above high school. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) - OR - Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond high school. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) Physical requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds. A pre-placement examination will be required to be able to determine if the incumbent is able to safely operate a Government Vehicle. A current, valid state-issued Driver's License is required for this position. Note: We cannot accept photographs, therefore; please do not submit a copy of your license with your application package.
