Job description
Role Overview
Produce expert political forecasts and research that help evaluate and improve AI systems performing real-world political and financial analysis. You will assess Maine elections, polling, and political-risk events using only information available at a defined point in time.
Key Responsibilities
Write point-in-time political reports and forecasts based on a stated evidence cutoff.
Develop and document directional assessments of polling, win probabilities, and market-implied odds.
Explain the causal mechanisms through which events may affect political outcomes and markets.
Review AI-generated analyses and evaluate them against your own analytical standard.
Qualifications
Hands-on experience with specific current, upcoming, or recent Maine Senate, governor, or statewide races.
Deep familiarity with Maine voters, candidates, and the local political environment.
Experience in a relevant role, such as university political science, state or regional polling, state-level campaign or party analytics, or state political-risk analysis.
A demonstrated record of making live judgments about polling, win probabilities, or odds, rather than only retrospective commentary.
Strong polling literacy and ability to analyze causal political events.
Typically 8 or more years of direct experience, or unusually strong evidence of equivalent performance.
Experience with Maine-focused university political science departments or survey research centers, state or regional pollsters, state campaign or party analytics teams, and state-specific decision desks or race-ratings outlets is especially relevant. National forecasting or political-risk experience is also relevant when paired with deep Maine expertise. Recognized organizations may be a helpful initial signal, but selection depends on direct experience and performance on the work sample.
Not a Fit
Professionals focused primarily on international politics, geopolitics, or country risk without substantial work on U.S. races.
Analysts without experience on a current or recent U.S. race in Maine.
Communications or journalism professionals without demonstrated forecasting, polling, or probabilistic judgment experience.
Academics whose work is exclusively theoretical and does not include analysis of live races.
Work Terms
Remote, hourly engagement.
Compensation
$100 to $200 per hour.
Eligibility
All work must be based solely on information available as of the stated evidence cutoff. Analyses may not use hindsight, data leakage, confidential information, or material non-public information.
