Starting Salary: $52,222.00 -$60,432.00 Hours: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.The City of Durham's Department of Water Management (DWM) wants YOU to join our team of more than 380 talented and dedicated employees that provide critical water and sewer services for Durham's 309,000 plus residents. If you have a passion for managing vital water resources, protecting the environment, providing excellent customer service, and keeping the water and wastewater in the pipes, bring your skills and talent to Durham!This position will update work order systems and related databases, to document and facilitate maintenance operations, and ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.This position is an essential position and will work during inclement weather events and after hours as needed.Duties/ResponsibilitiesProviding janitorial, housekeeping, and custodial functions for multiple City buildings and/or recreation centers.Cleaning and maintaining floors; emptying trash; dusting; sanitizing bathrooms; cleaning mirrors and windows; replenishing sanitation items.Setting up and breaking down facilities for special events.Inspecting equipment and reporting issues.Generating work orders; opening and closing facilities; pressure washing surfaces and buildings; cleaning outdoor facilities such as parks; assisting with minor fixture repairs.Assisting with painting, repairing, and replacing floors; assisting with mixing and pouring concrete; and assisting with grass cutting and weed eating.Minimum Qualifications & ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC)One year of maintenance or custodial experience related to assignment.A valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record is required for Custodial or labor work assignments that include driving between multiple facilities and/or locations to perform work or transfer equipment.Benefits – General Full-Time Employees12-13 paid holidays per year13 standard work days of vacation per year13 standard work days of sick leave per year, which accumulates indefinitely; sick leave may be used toward early retirement2 weeks paid military leave per yearMedical, dental, vision, and supplemental life insurance plansState and City retirement plansShort and long term disability plansPaid temporary disability leave for specified conditionsCity contribution of 13.6% into the N.C.
