CustodianReports to: Head Custodian/Maintenance DirectorCalendar: 260 Days/ 12 MonthsPay Grade: Aux: 1 ($13.00 - $18.32) (Depends on Years of Experience)Wage/Hour Status: Non-exemptDept./School: Maintenance Department/Assigned CampusDate Revised: 6/2/98: 11/1/11; 06/2023Report Date: OpenIn-House applicants must complete the online internal applicationAll substitutes for Crosby ISD, if applying for a full time job, MUST complete an External ApplicationPrimary Purpose:Follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.Qualifications:Education/Certification:None specifiedSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety proceduresKnowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenanceAbility to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipmentAbility to properly handle cleaning suppliesExperience:NoneSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.Major Responsibilities and Duties:Cleaning:Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.Keep school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean.Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed.Maintenance and Repair:Assist with lunchroom set up, including arranging tables and chairs.Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide appropriate temperatures and ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repair needs to principal.Move furniture or equipment within building as directed by principal.Assist in setting up facilities for special events.Safety:Assist with opening and closing building each school day.Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during hours of building occupancy.Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.Supervisory Responsibilities:None.Equipment Used:Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, shampooer, lawn mower, edger, and weed eater.Working Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting and carrying.Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and ladders.Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials.The foregoing statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.The Crosby Independent School District - in compliance with the Title VII, American Disability Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and other statues- seeks to provide equal opportunity without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital or veteran status, the presence of a medical condition, disability, or any other legally protected status.
