Maintenance Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Maintenance Technician

Reports to: Facilities Manager

Supervises: Not a supervisory position

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of the club's facilities and equipment. This position ensures that all building systems, fitness amenities, pools, locker rooms, kitchens, and grounds remain safe, reliable, and in excellent operating condition while providing exceptional service to members and staff.

The ideal candidate possesses broad maintenance experience with strong technical knowledge in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen equipment, and general building maintenance. This position works in assigned areas and takes directions from the Facilities Management Team (Facilities Director and / or the Assistant Facilities Director and Maintenance Manager).

This is a non-exempt, hourly position; must be available to workdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays and have a flexible schedule.

Essential Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

General Facility Maintenance

Perform routine inspections of all club facilities and identify maintenance needs.

Complete preventative maintenance according to established schedules.

Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs.

Maintain accurate work orders and maintenance records.

Assist with facility improvements, renovations, and special projects.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop.

HVAC Systems

Troubleshoot and repair commercial HVAC equipment.

Perform preventive maintenance including filter changes, belt replacement, lubrication, and coil cleaning.

Diagnose refrigeration and air conditioning issues.

Monitor building automation and HVAC controls where applicable.

Assist with maintaining proper indoor air quality and temperature throughout the facility.

Electrical Systems

Troubleshoot electrical issues involving lighting, receptacles, switches, motors, and controls.

Replace lighting fixtures, ballasts, drivers, and electrical components.

Install and repair electrical equipment in accordance with applicable codes.

Perform basic motor control troubleshooting.

Maintain emergency lighting systems and backup equipment.

Plumbing Systems

Repair toilets, sinks, faucets, valves, flushometers, and water heaters.

Diagnose and repair water leaks and drain issues.

Maintain domestic water and irrigation systems.

Install plumbing fixtures and piping as needed.

Commercial Kitchen Equipment

Diagnose and repair commercial kitchen equipment including: Ice machines

Refrigerators and freezers

Walk-in coolers and freezers

Ovens

Grills

Fryers

Steamers

Dishwashers

Food warmers

Beverage equipment

Perform preventative maintenance on food service equipment.

Coordinate with vendors for major repairs when necessary.

Additional Responsibilities

Assist with maintenance of fitness equipment and recreational amenities.

Support pool equipment maintenance including pumps, filters, and chemical systems (training provided if necessary).

Operate lifts, ladders, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.

Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.

Maintain compliance with OSHA and all applicable safety regulations.

Provide courteous, professional service to members, guests, and coworkers.

Additional Duties as required to cover shifts :

Laundry, Security, Housekeeping duties and / or landscaping and groundskeeping responsibilities as needed.

Landscaping duties: lawn mowing/maintenance, planting flowers, weeding, mulching, watering, fertilizing, tree trimming, digging, etc.; clean, fill and maintain water jugs, leaf blowing and clean / maintain all areas (parking lot, tennis courts, pool, marina, etc.) empty trash receptacles, remove spider /cobwebs.

Move furniture (setup/break down)

Janitorial/housekeeping responsibilities; clean / vacuum / sweep / mop floors, windows, dust, etc, laundry,

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

3 plus years of experience/knowledge (Preferred)

Bilingual English/Spanish desirable

Preferred Certifications:

HVAC

EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (Required or obtained within 90 days)

Physical Demands:

This position requires standing, walking, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, lifting, holding/carrying, twisting/turning, reaching, climbing stairs/ladders and the ability to routinely lift 50 pounds or more regularly. Also requires the ability to climb a 15-foot extension ladder and work while scaffolding; able to perform the necessary job functions in hot and cold environments for extended periods of time (indoor/outdoor).

Work Environment:

Tasks are performed with exposure to diverse environmental and safety conditions. The position will require the use of equipment that will present noise levels and safety concerns in the workplace which may be excessive and will require, from time to time, the use of ear plugs and other personal protective equipment (PPE).
