Grounds Maintenance Keeper IIMinimum starting salary rate: $17.78 per hourPosition: GroundsAssignment: Maintenance Grounds Keeper II Wage/Hour Status: Non-ExemptReports to: Grounds Lead Pay Grade: AX530/260 days Dept./School: Facility Services Date Revised: Spring 2024Primary PurposeUnder general supervision, provide a safe and secure learning environment through proper care and maintenance of athletic areas, play areas and grounds throughout the district.QualificationsMinimum Education/CertificationHigh School Diploma/GED preferredValid Texas Driver's License.Valid Class A CDL preferredDriving record that meets the requirements of the district's insurance carrier.Minimum of three years of experience in grounds maintenance and care.Special Knowledge/Skills/ExperienceKnowledge in operation of grounds maintenance equipment such as backhoe, grader, front end loader, forklift, and mowersKnowledge of fertilization, seeding, aeration and top-dressing methodsKnowledge in the use of tools required to install and maintain playground and athletic structuresStrong organizational and communication skillsPossess a positive attitudeMajor Responsibilities and DutiesMaintenance and care of athletic fieldsMaintenance and care of school groundsPerforms inspections of playground equipment, minor equipment repairs, and fibar replenishmentPerform repairs of fences and gatesPerform sidewalk and parking lot maintenancePerform grading and drainage workPerform other duties as assigned.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsUse of mowers, tractors, weed-eaters, blowers, edgers, chippers, chainsaws, other grounds related equipment, hand-tools, district vehicles/trailers, backhoe/excavators, and safety equipmentFrequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stopping, pushing/pulling, and twisting, and standing; occasional sittingFrequent reaching and walking; occasional climbingFrequent lifting and carrying (50 pounds and over).Mostly work outside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and fumes, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around gas lines; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travelMaintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions; may work prolonged or irregular hoursAll employees are to follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.This position is an in-person job and is to be performed at the location specified.
