Job description
GroundskeeperThe Groundskeeper performs landscaping tasks using power equipment and hand tools to maintain the facility's grounds. This position will involve regular use of a weed eater, leaf blower and rake.KNOW HOWPrevious experience preferred.High School diploma or equivalent preferred.Ability to operate various types of power equipment including weed eater, trimmers, hedge trimmers and leaf blowers.Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping.Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.Extensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes.Excellent time management skills.On-the-job training offered.PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIESTrims weeds, and rakes leaves as assigned.Pick up sticksTrims bushes, shrubs, and hedges.Performs other related duties as assigned.PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTSProlonged periods walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling or kneeling.Must be physically able to operate a weed eater.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.Ability to observe and promote safety and security procedures.Ability to work in an environment with noise.MEMBER INVOLVEMENTAcquaint members with other YMCA programs and benefits.Develop relationships that promote the building of small communities.Recommend participation in a variety of YMCA programs.Support our YMCA annual campaign, and invite members to participate.Be able to articulate the role and importance of volunteers.Be informed about volunteer opportunities.Provide an environment in which valuing diversity is encouraged.EFFECT ON END RESULTProvide grounds/facility that is well-maintained, welcoming, safe, friendly and supportive.Provide positive relations with YMCA participants, adults and children alike.Create a warm and friendly environment in which families can grow.Provide positive support with co-workers and to ensure that YMCA goals are being met.Maintain Center and equipment in a clean, safe and appropriate manner.
