Job Purpose/Summary:

Under general supervision, the incumbent will be responsible to understand and maintain a good working knowledge of the various power plant technical systems. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing mechanical PM's, welding on plate and pipe, perform alignments, troubleshooting equipment, ability to read prints, perform mechanical maintenance on pumps, piping, and equipment. Perform the use of hand tools, power tools, drill press, lathe, grinder, and threader. Also, the ability to use an overhead crane, rigging, and performance tools.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Troubleshoot, identify, maintain, and make repairs to power plant equipment. Perform Lockout/Tag out of equipment for maintenance work following the Fossil Tagging Procedure.

2. Specific knowledge and use of mechanical measuring devices, hand tools, shop machines, welding, laser alignment tools, and overhead cranes.

3. Be familiar with principles of operation and function of steam boilers, turbo generators, pumps, heaters, steam traps, piping systems, and valves of all types.

4. Comply with all Fossil Safety Procedures and Policies.

5. Step-up to Temporary Supervisor.

6. Be available to work overtime as needed. Be willing to work under unusual as well as normal working conditions pertaining to a power plant environment.
