Job description
Journeyman PlumberMinimum Salary: $63,005/Days: 248Primary Purpose: To maintain, install and repair all district plumbing and related equipment in order to minimize interruption of the education process.Qualifications:Journeyman Plumber's license (TX)Driving record that meets the requirements of the district's insurance carrierMust obtain a structural pest control license within one yearSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Ability to read blueprintsAbility to operate backhoe and ditch trencherPreferred Experience: Five years experience in plumbing trade with background in repair, remodeling, and new constructionMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Demonstrate acceptable work habits including teamwork, initiative and dependability.Report to work on time each dayClean sanitary sewer lines.Repair water leaks.Maintain all gas lines in safe condition and perform gas leaks tests as directed.Repair drinking fountain fixtures.Install new plumbing and domestic water systems as needed in existing facilities.Maintain and repair sewage and sump pumps.Maintain and repair hot water circulating pumps and hot water heaters.Perform other functions as required by the Maintenance Manager.Maintain and repair all restroom related plumbing.Maintain and repair or remodel all kitchen related plumbing.Perform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned on an as needed basis.Equipment Used:BackhoeDitch TrencherJack HammerSawWelding MachineWater PumpsHand DrillPipe WelderLarge, Medium, and Small Sewer MachinesDirt TampersWorking Conditions:Mental Demands:Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directionsAbility to communicate with all levels of personnelAbility to meet deadlines and alter work prioritiesPhysical Demands:Frequent driving of vehiclesContinuous working with machineryContinuous climbing of ladders and stairsContinuous walkingLimited sittingContinuous pulling, lifting carrying and draggingContinuous squattingFrequent working at heightsFrequent stoopingFrequent crawlingFrequent bendingRequires quick reactions, good balance and steady handsSensory Requirements:Significant hearingNear visionFar visionPeripheral visionColor discriminationDepth perceptionEnvironment:Exposure to:Temperature extremesFumesDustSolventsToxic chemicals/materialsNoiseHigh voltageRain, snow, sleet, lightning, wind, sun, iceRoof tar, grease, oilsInsulation fibersCeiling tile fibers
