Maintenance PainterMinimum starting salary rate: $19.84 per hourPosition: MaintenanceAssignment: Maintenance Painter Wage/Hour Status: Non-ExemptReports to: Maintenance Lead Painter Pay Grade: AX550/260 days Dept./School: Facility Services Date Revised: Spring 2024Primary PurposeUnder general supervision, provide a safe and secure learning environment through proper care of existing facilities, including repairs and preventive maintenance activity.QualificationsMinimum Education/CertificationHigh School Diploma/GEDValid Texas Driver LicenseDriving record that meets the requirements of the district's insurance carrier.Special Knowledge/Skills/ExperienceAbility to read and write basic EnglishAbility to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructionsAbility to communicate effectively and professionally (verbal)Three years' experience in commercial painting, and installation of multi wall finishesKnowledge of paints, stain, and finish materials.Knowledge of mixing paints.Knowledge of sprayed materials and spray booth.Knowledge of multi wall finishesKnowledge of taping and floating drywallStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to work as a teamAbility to productively work on assignments independentlyPossess a positive attitude.Major Responsibilities and DutiesPreparation for painting, caulking, sanding, patching.Brush, rolling, spray painting (metal works/exterior finishes).Woodwork: painting/staining/finish.Drywall work: tape and bed/texture/paint.Planning, purchasing of supplies, and matching colors.Receive and complete work orders.Use of scissor lifts for interior and exterior painting.Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.Maintain inventory of tools.Organize and request materials for the paint department.Trouble shoot paint material needed for variety of surfaces.Perform any other duties assigned by the Painter, Night Lead, or appropriate administrator.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsComputer/handheld technology devices, Painting and drywall tools and equipment including brush, roller, spray equipment sand and water blaster; small hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools; forklift, scissor lift and boom lift; light truck or van and trailersFrequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positionsFrequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent drivingHeavy lifting and carrying (50 pounds and over) on a daily basisWork outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and fumes, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around gas lines; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travelMaintain emotional control under stressOTHER: All employees are to follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.The foregoing statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.
