Job Grade: 11
Hourly Pay Rate: $25.97 - $33.17/HR
Location: 8535 State Hwy 242 Conroe, TX 77385
Civil Service: Yes
Shift Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
(Schedule subject to change. Some overtime, weekends, holidays and/or on call required)
Education, Experience and Skill Requirements
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Must have a valid Texas Driver's License
Five years of general building maintenance or construction experience, a plus.
Physically able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to physically work indoors and outdoors.
Ability to work well under pressure with contact interruptions.
Prior experience working with a municipality, government or nonprofit Animal Shelter, a plus.
Must be self-motivated and willing to work as directed.
Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
MUST be a team player, able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
Compassion for animals, comfortable working in a shelter environment and willing to accommodate animals in the workplace.
Willingness to cross-train and accept additional duties as assigned.
Ability to work offsite events, night and/or out of state, if needed.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Ability to work in person - not remote.
Primary Job Duties Under general supervision, is responsible for skilled performance in various building maintenance and construction trades such as: carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, roofing, dry wall, air conditioning, welding, furniture moving, machinery operator, etc. regarding the maintenance and repair Montgomery County Animal Services facility and assets.
Performs, or coordinates with vendors, preventative maintenance duties and repairs as needed.
Supervises the operations and maintenance of all Animal Services vehicles. Investigates and corrects problems.
Performs some Custodial-related activities as needed.
Ensures the building is kept clean, orderly and maintained daily.
Responds to after hour calls (including weekend and holidays) as need for Animal Services related issues.
Regular contact with the public
General cleaning interior and exterior of building of building
Works offsite events, night and/or out of state, if needed.
any other duties as assigned.
After receiving a conditional offer of employment, applicant must pass a drug screen (1/2 cost = $20.00, responsibility of applicant) and may need a physical agility test (1/2 cost = $22.50, responsibility of applicant) before becoming an employee of Montgomery County.
