Job Summary
A growing manufacturing operation in Stratford, CT is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support equipment reliability, production uptime, and day-to-day plant maintenance. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a hands-on technician with mechanical troubleshooting experience, electrical repair knowledge, and the ability to maintain equipment in a food manufacturing environment.
This role offers steady, practical work in a safety-focused production setting where teamwork, training, and continuous improvement are valued. The Maintenance Technician will work closely with operations, maintenance leadership, and production teams to keep machinery running efficiently, support safe working conditions, and develop additional skills for long-term career growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance service, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical equipment, production lines, and supporting plant systems.
- Complete minor machine servicing, electrical repairs, installations, cleaning, lubrication, and equipment adjustments.
- Diagnose mechanical issues, disassemble equipment, replace worn or damaged parts, and inspect completed repairs for proper operation.
- Repair and maintain motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, and other manufacturing equipment.
- Follow OSHA, food safety, SQF, HACCP, GMP, and company safety procedures while identifying and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Assist with special projects, parts inventory, equipment startup, production line operation, and training or supporting lower-level maintenance employees as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
- Direct hire opportunity.
- Pay range: $30 to $35 per hour.
- Location: Stratford, CT.
- Schedule may include periodic evenings, holidays, weekends, and extended hours based on business needs.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Maintain and repair food manufacturing equipment, production machinery, and supporting mechanical systems.
- Perform electrical repairs, machine servicing, equipment startup, and production line support.
- Diagnose equipment issues and repair or replace mechanical components such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, and fans.
- Support safety, food safety, maintenance documentation, parts ordering, and continuous improvement activities.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
- 2 or more years of related maintenance, equipment repair, or industrial maintenance experience required.
- 3 to 5 years of maintenance technician experience preferred based on role level.
- Experience with mechanical troubleshooting, machine repair, preventive maintenance, and industrial equipment operation.
- Ability to perform basic electrical repairs and follow safe work practices.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements and safe maintenance procedures.
- Ability to work in a food manufacturing environment and follow SQF, HACCP, GMP, and personal hygiene requirements.
- Basic computer and communication skills, including email and texting.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving ability, and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to stand for long periods, walk frequently, bend, reach, stoop, push, pull, frequently lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to tolerate moderate to loud noise levels and hot or cold work environments.
- Valid driver's license may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Equipment manufacturer certification or equivalent training is a plus.
- Welding experience is a plus.
- Electrical experience and/or electrical license is a plus.
- Knowledge of PLCs, low voltage systems, and controls is a plus.
- Experience with industrial building maintenance and repairs is preferred.
