Location: TOPEKA, KS 66607
Pay Rate: $17.00/hr
Shift: Monday-Friday 8am-5:30pm (Plus one on call week)
Position Summary:
The Apartment Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, functionality, and safety of apartment units and community facilities. This position performs routine maintenance, repairs, preventative maintenance, and assists with unit turnovers to ensure resident satisfaction and property standards are maintained.
Responsibilities:
Perform general maintenance and repairs in occupied and vacant apartment units.
Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and appliance issues.
Prepare vacant units for new residents, including painting, cleaning, and repairs.
Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, water heaters, appliances, and other property equipment.
Maintain common areas, parking lots, sidewalks, and landscaping as needed.
Respond to emergency maintenance requests and participate in on-call rotations when required.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and local building codes.
Maintain accurate records of completed work orders and maintenance activities.
Assist with snow removal, groundskeeping, and other seasonal property needs.
Qualifications: Previous apartment maintenance, facilities maintenance, or general maintenance experience preferred.
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and appliance repair.
Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions.
Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights when necessary.
