Maintenance Technician

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Maintenance Technician within the DuPage County Facilities Management Department. This position performs a variety of tasks in the maintenance, repair, alteration, and remodeling of all County buildings and equipment. The salary for this position will be $58,575 plus a $1.25 per hour shift differential for shifts scheduled to begin work between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. and/or a $1.25 per hour shift differential for any employee scheduled to work the 48 hours between 12:00am (midnight) on Saturday morning and 11:59pm on Sunday evening. This position is assigned to the IUOE - LOCAL 399 BARGAINING UNIT. This position is eligible for our complete benefit package including medical, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, pension, deferred compensation plan, tuition reimbursement, pre-paid legal and credit union. As a team member at DuPage County, you will also have access to time off with pay on Designated Holidays or holiday pay if required to work, Vacation time, Sick time, Comp time, and Personal days. Responsibilities

Responsibilities include: • Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and repairs • Constructs, repairs and installs cabinets, desks, and other office furniture • Repairs windows, doors and locks and replaces tiles and floor coverings • Installs framing, drywall, ceilings, paneling and baseboards • Installs and replaces concrete sidewalks or cracked wall plaster • Maintains air conditioning and ventilating units including routine repairs • Repairs laundry and kitchen equipment • Operates power tools, hand tools, light trucks, light construction equipment and other related equipment • Prepares preliminary sketches to follow for repair work • Estimates project costs and prepares requisitions for materials • Maintains adequate stock of parts and supplies • Maintains records of work requests received and completed • Inspects work for compliance with specifications

Requirements Include

Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience: • Completion of a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma equivalent • Three (3) years of experience in maintenance and repair work, including one (1) year of experience in at least one of the building trades • Must possess and maintain in good standing a valid Illinois Driver's License A post offer physical is required. A pre-employment background check is required
