Maintenance Unit SupervisorDavenport, IowaFull TimeThis position will supervise Electrician and Mechanic union employees on 12-hour shifts and will rotate between day and night shifts on a specific schedule determined by the department.The Maintenance Unit Supervisor is a salary position that is accountable for providing leadership and direction to assigned members of a union crew as well as provide technical troubleshooting skills to identify maintenance issues and develop solutions. You will also provide technical leadership and training to mechanical and electrical craft employees. Under the direction of the Area Technical Leader, you will be responsible to ensure productivity, safety, quality, improved recovery, reliable and consistent delivery performance and rapid problem solving in planned and unplanned cost-effective, customer-centric environment.Ideally, you will have supervisory experience and troubleshooting knowledge. You should be a self-starter with a motivation to learn mechanical maintenance and manufacturing aspects of plant operations.Supervise mechanical crafts within a specific department, acting as a resource for maintenance guidance to craft and other manufacturing personnelExecute planned and unplanned work to meet department goalsMaintain a safe work environment and a workplace that causes no harm to people or the environmentLead individual safety discussions and job-specific safety reviewsSupport operating results through the management of your crew with emphasis on quantity, quality, timeliness, safety, recovery, and delivery performanceEnsure work is allocated fairly and clearly assigned to crew members; formulate and assign tasks within guidelines established by Department management prioritizing work based on knowledge of business criticalityDecide and deploy appropriate crewing arrangements for planned and unplanned situations based on absences, schedule requirements, equipment availability, and vacations within labor agreement guidelinesWork with craftspeople to apply root cause analysis and rapid problem-solving techniques to maintain or restore productionSeek cooperation from, persuade or influence others, and must develop relationships and persuade others to resolve problems. Occasionally, the position deals with sensitive interpersonal situations and must motivate or negotiate with others to obtain desired resultsBasic Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institutionMinimum of 3 years of hands-on maintenance experienceMinimum of 2 years of supervisory experience with direct reportsEmployees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Exceptional Candidates also have:Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of Company policies, procedures, and practices related to HR/IR including the bargaining and local agreements is a plus.A working knowledge of principles and concepts of Lean Manufacturing (ABS)
