Job TitleThis is a repost. Performs semiskilled work on a variety of maintenance and repair projects; performs custodial work in the cleaning and maintenance of park facility restrooms; operates equipment in connection with tasks; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.Essential FunctionsPerforms a variety of semiskilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of assigned facilities including parks, landscape, and buildings.Installs, repairs, and maintains irrigation systems, and park facilities.Maintains City buildings; does minor plumbing, carpentry, electrical work; paints buildings, benches, and tables.Installs, repairs, and maintains fences, landscaping, sod, drainage, facilities, walkways and other public-use areas.Mows and maintains grounds of assigned areas, maintains and prepares fields, and repairs equipment.Ensures grounds, right of ways, and/or facilities are free from debris.Responsible for the upkeep and cleaning of park facility restrooms; ensures the restrooms are adequately supplied, and trash is emptied.Assembles and uses small tools and materials required for assigned tasks.Operates tractors, mowers, backhoes, and various other equipment and hand tools in performance of tasks.Serves as essential personnel during special events, natural or man-made disasters, and emergencies.Performs related tasks as required.Minimum QualificationsMust be a minimum of 18 years of age. Requires three months experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, and/or irrigation, custodial, or closely related experience. Requires a valid driver license (must obtain Florida driver license within 30 days of employment). Knowledge, skills and abilities: Some knowledge of the safe use, operation and preventive maintenance of the equipment to which assigned; skill in the use of equipment to which assigned. Ability to understand and follow specific oral and/or written instructions. Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions. Ability to lift heavy articles and perform any essential job tasks in a quick and efficient manner. Ability to read and write in English. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates. Ability to work varied shifts according to the needs of the department.
