Maintenance Worker / Building Maintenance Technician
The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) | Kansas City, MO 64106
Pay: Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:30 AM-4:00 PM
Hours: 40 Hours Per Week

Are you a skilled Maintenance Worker looking for a stable, full-time opportunity where your work directly impacts the community? The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is seeking a dependable and motivated individual to join our Facilities Maintenance team in Kansas City.
In this hands-on role, you will help maintain our rehabilitation center, warehouse, thrift stores, and administrative facilities. Your work will ensure our buildings, grounds, and equipment remain safe, functional, and welcoming for staff, program participants, and visitors.

Essential Job Duties
Building & Facility Maintenance
Perform general building maintenance and facility repairs.
Complete preventive maintenance tasks to support safe and efficient operations.
Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, and HVAC maintenance projects.
Respond to maintenance work orders and repair requests.
Maintain floors through cleaning, buffing, waxing, and routine upkeep.
Inspect facilities and identify maintenance needs.
Grounds Maintenance & Property Upkeep Perform lawn care, landscaping, mowing, trimming, and general grounds maintenance.
Assist with snow and ice removal during winter weather.
Maintain safe, attractive, and functional exterior property conditions year-round.
Operational & Maintenance Support Move furniture, fixtures, equipment, and donated materials as needed.
Assist with room setups and event preparation.
Support facility improvement and renovation projects.
Escort and assist contractors, vendors, and service providers.
Operate Salvation Army vehicles to transport tools, supplies, and materials between locations.
Additional Responsibilities Follow facility safety procedures and organizational policies.
Maintain maintenance equipment and tools.
Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum one (1) year of building maintenance, facilities maintenance, property maintenance, or related experience.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
Basic plumbing repair experience.
Basic electrical troubleshooting and repair knowledge.
Painting and drywall repair experience.
Carpentry skills.
HVAC maintenance experience.
Experience operating lawn care and snow removal equipment.
Physical Requirements
This position requires regular physical activity, including: Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
Frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
Occasionally lifting up to 100 pounds.
Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Traveling between multiple Salvation Army properties throughout the Kansas City area.
Travel Requirements
Regular travel between local Salvation Army facilities is required. Agency vehicles will be provided for work-related transportation.

What You Need
Required
Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum one year of related maintenance experience
Skills & Abilities Basic painting and electrical skills
Proficient with small hand tools
Experience with equipment operation (lawnmowers, snow blowers, carpet cleaning equipment, buffers)
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Strong attention to detail
Required Certifications Valid driver's license
Ability to pass MVR check
Physical Requirements Regularly required to stand, use hands, handle, feel, hear, and talk
