Job description
A growing, multi-billion-dollar private equity firm based in Midtown Manhattan. As the firm adds new funds and team members, its finance team is expanding and modernizing how it works. This is a chance to join a lean, collaborative group at an important time in its growth, with visibility to the CFO and senior leadership.
The role
The firm is hiring a Staff Accountant to own day-to-day transaction processing for the management company and its related entities. You'll be the go-to person for payables, employee expenses and core accounting, and you'll play a central part in the firm's move to modern cloud-based finance systems. This role suits someone who likes owning a defined set of processes, running them well, and finding ways to improve them.
Responsibilities
Manage the full accounts payable cycle for the management company and affiliated entities: invoice review, coding, approvals, and wire and ACH payment processing
Serve as first-line reviewer of employee expense reports and corporate card activity, ensuring policy compliance, accurate GL and entity coding, and complete documentation
Prepare journal entries and support month-end and year-end close, including accruals, prepaids, and expense allocations across multiple entities
Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
Maintain strong controls over payments, including callback verification for vendor banking changes and vendor master data upkeep
Support the firm's migration to a new ERP and spend management platform, then administer those systems day to day
Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
Manage 1099 reporting and vendor onboarding
Support annual audits and tax preparation by providing schedules and documentation
Partner with the CFO, finance team, deal professionals and administrative staff on ad hoc projects
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
5+ years of accounting experience, ideally at a private equity firm, hedge fund, family office, asset manager or professional services firm
Hands-on experience with accounts payable, expense reporting and the month-end close
Experience with multiple entities and expense allocations strongly preferred
Familiarity with cloud ERP and spend management tools (NetSuite, Ramp, Concur, Bill.com or similar) is a plus. Experience with a system implementation or conversion is a big plus.
Strong attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership
Clear communicator, comfortable working with senior people across the firm
