Manager, Advisory Services

L&H CPAs & Advisors, LLC

Advisory Services Division | Dallas, Texas | Full-Time

The Firm

L&H CPAs & Advisors, LLC is a Dallas-based professional services firm providing tax and advisory services to privately held and founder-led companies. The Advisory Services division delivers financial leadership and transaction expertise across the following key practice areas:

Mergers & Acquisitions Advisory. Buy-side and sell-side representation, including quality of earnings analysis, financial due diligence, valuation, transaction structuring and net proceeds modeling, data room preparation, negotiation support, and post-closing settlements.

Client Accounting Services and Fractional Controller & CFO Advisory. Ongoing financial leadership for companies without a full internal finance function, encompassing close oversight, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cash management, capital planning, and strategic financial guidance.

Commercial Real Estate Finance Advisory. Underwriting and proforma development, financial modeling maintained across the asset lifecycle, valuation and performance monitoring, acquisition and disposition support, and institutional-quality lender and investor reporting for developers, owners, and sponsors.

Clients frequently engage the division across multiple practice areas over the life of the relationship, and the division is structured to serve them accordingly.

Position Summary

The Manager holds primary responsibility for engagement delivery and client relationship management across an assigned portfolio. The role carries controller-level accountability for the integrity of client financial reporting, supervisory responsibility for Associates and first-line accounting staff, and day-to-day ownership of the client relationship.

The position combines technical execution with oversight. Managers remain substantively involved in the work while bearing accountability for engagement quality, economics, and client outcomes.

Principal Responsibilities

Controller-Level Engagement Delivery

Own the monthly and quarterly close process for assigned clients, including review of the general ledger, accruals, account reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, and supporting workpapers

Ensure financial statements are accurate, timely, and defensible for use by ownership, boards, lenders, investors, and prospective acquirers

Develop and maintain management reporting packages, including key performance indicators, dashboards, budget-to-actual analysis, cash forecasting, and accompanying analytical commentary

Design and implement accounting processes, internal controls, and close calendars for clients whose finance infrastructure has not kept pace with the business

Resolve technical accounting matters and coordinate with the firm's tax on matters requiring cross-divisional input

Supervision and Review

Review Associate work product, including financial models, diligence schedules, reporting packages, and workpapers, for technical accuracy, completeness, and analytical sufficiency

Direct and review first-line accounting work performed by the firm's general accounting team, and maintain standards for quality and turnaround

Train and develop Associates through structured review, direct coaching, and progressive delegation of responsibility

Scope engagements, allocate staffing, monitor budget and realization, and elevate matters affecting engagement economics or client service

Client Relationship Management

Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for assigned clients

Lead recurring client meetings, present financial results, interpret performance trends, and recommend appropriate action

Identify client needs across the division's practice areas and coordinate with the Director on scoping and expansion of services

Support proposal development, engagement scoping, and onboarding of new clients

Transaction and Advisory Engagements

Lead or support financial due diligence and quality of earnings engagements on both buy-side and sell-side mandates

Review valuation analyses, transaction models, and net proceeds calculations

Support commercial real estate underwriting, proforma review, lender and investor reporting, and capital events

Prepare clients in advance of transactions through remediation of financial records and establishment of credible reporting

Qualifications

Required

Six or more years of relevant experience across public accounting, outsourced controller and CFO services, transaction advisory services, or corporate accounting and finance leadership

Demonstrated controller-level capability, including primary ownership of a close process

Substantive review experience and the ability to develop staff through the review process

Proven effectiveness in direct interaction with business owners and executive management, including the communication of unfavorable findings

Strong technical accounting foundation in U.S. GAAP, applied proportionately to privately held companies

Preferred

Active CPA licensure strongly preferred; CFA designation or MBA also valued

Direct experience in commercial real estate accounting and finance, M&A due diligence or quality of earnings, or fractional CFO and controller delivery

Experience supervising distributed or offshore accounting teams

Demonstrated record of establishing finance and accounting process in environments lacking existing infrastructure

Professional Development

Managers hold client relationships directly and work across Advisory's practice areas with regular access to the Director of Advisory Services. The division is in an active growth phase, and the defined advancement path leads toward full fractional CFO responsibility and ownership of a client portfolio.

Location and Travel

The position is expected to office in Dallas, Texas, with a hybrid work schedule (primarily in-person). Periodic travel may be required for client site visits, management meetings, and on-site diligence procedures.
