The Opportunity

As the Manager of Public Relations & Consumer Storytelling at FICO, you will help tell the story of one of the most trusted financial tools in the United States, the FICO® Score. This role is ideal for a consumer-first communicator who can translate complex financial concepts into clear, compelling stories that build understanding and trust with the public.

Working closely with senior communications leaders and cross-functional partners, you will help execute consumer-facing communications, support media relations, and develop proactive storytelling across product innovation, consumer education, data insights, and financial well-being.

What You'll Contribute

Help develop and execute consumer communications and media outreach strategies that increase awareness, understanding, and trust in FICO Scores.

Bring creative ideas and a strong consumer lens to the team’s storytelling and media programs.

Build and maintain relationships with consumer, personal finance, and mainstream reporters; proactively pitch stories and help manage inbound media inquiries.

Write and develop high-quality communications materials, including press releases, media pitches, Q&As, talking points, consumer explainer blogs, etc.

Support consumer-facing narratives around product launches, score and credit education, data insights, and broader financial literacy topics.

Partner with product, analytics, legal, marketing, and other stakeholders to ensure communications are accurate, timely, and aligned with business priorities.

Prepare and support spokespeople for interviews, briefings, and media engagements, helping ensure clarity, confidence, and message consistency.

Monitor media coverage, consumer conversations, and industry trends to identify proactive storytelling opportunities and flag emerging issues or risks.

Track and analyze earned media performance, translating results into useful insights and recommendations for the communications team and internal stakeholders.

Manage assigned projects from planning through execution, keeping workstreams organized, stakeholders informed, and deliverables on track.

What We're Seeking

Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

4-7+ years of experience in communications, media relations, or public relations, with meaningful experience in consumer-facing communications; experience in financial services, fintech, or another highly regulated industry is strongly preferred. Applicants with agency experience is encouraged.

Proven ability to simplify complex topics and craft clear, compelling messages for consumer and mainstream media audiences.

Well versed in the evolving media landscape and able to craft stories tailored to specific audiences and platforms.

Experience developing press materials and building media relationships across consumer, financial, or business outlets.

Demonstrated ability to manage communications projects and move work from concept through execution with appropriate guidance and collaboration.

Highly collaborative, with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships.

Comfort managing multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Experience using PR tools such as Muck Rack for media monitoring, outreach, and reporting.

Proactive, curious, and comfortable taking ownership, asking smart questions, and looking for ways to improve the work.

The targeted base pay range for this role is: $81,900 to $1,28,700 with this range reflecting differences in candidate knowledge, skills and experience.
