Job description
Selby Jennings is partnered with a leading lower middle market private equity firm to identify a senior investment professional at the Managing Director level. The firm is a well-established investor with a long track record of partnering with management teams to drive operational value creation and long-term growth across its portfolio.
This individual will play a critical leadership role in originating, executing, and overseeing investments, while contributing to overall firm strategy and mentoring junior professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Lead sourcing and origination efforts, leveraging proprietary networks to develop actionable investment opportunities in the business services, industrials, consumer, or healthcare services sectors.
Serve as the primary deal lead on new platform investments and add-on acquisitions, overseeing diligence, negotiation, and execution
Work closely with portfolio company management teams to drive strategic, operational, and financial initiatives
Provide active oversight at the board level, including performance monitoring, value creation planning, and exits
Collaborate with senior partners on fund strategy, portfolio construction, and capital deployment
Support fundraising and LP relationship management, as appropriate
Mentor and develop junior investment professionals, fostering a high-performance culture
Candidate Profile
Senior-level private equity professional with significant experience in lower middle market investing
Demonstrated success leading transactions from sourcing through exit
Strong background in financial analysis, deal structuring, and valuation
Experience partnering closely with management teams and adding value post-acquisition
Established network within investment banking, executives, and intermediaries
Entrepreneurial mindset with strong leadership, judgment, and communication skills
