Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Manual Machinist for a well-established industrial repair and manufacturing facility in Tampa, FL. This position is responsible for setting up and operating conventional machining equipment to manufacture, repair, and modify precision metal components.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with manual lathes and mills , precision measuring instruments, blueprint interpretation, and machining parts to close tolerances. This is a hands-on opportunity for a skilled machinist who can work independently and consistently produce high-quality parts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and other conventional machine-shop equipment
Machine, repair, and modify shafts, sleeves, bushings, and other metal components
Perform turning, facing, boring, threading, drilling, tapping, and milling operations
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and job specifications
Determine proper tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining sequences
Use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments
Machine parts to specified dimensions and close tolerances
Inspect completed work to ensure accuracy and quality
Maintain accurate job and production records
Perform routine equipment inspections and basic machine maintenance
Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
Qualifications
Minimum of 3-5 years of recent manual machining experience preferred
Strong experience operating conventional lathes and mills
Ability to independently set up and complete machining jobs
Proficient in reading blueprints and machining specifications
Skilled in using precision measuring instruments
Experience machining steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other metals
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Ability to perform shop math, including decimals, fractions, and tolerance calculations
Dependable attendance and ability to work with minimal supervision
Previous industrial repair, electric motor, pump, or rotating-equipment experience is a plus
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
Ability to safely work around machinery, tooling, oils, and metal materials
Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment
Compensation
This position pays $25.00-$36.00 per hour , depending on machining experience, technical skills, and overall qualifications.
