Manual MachinistOur Components Division, located in Gorham, Maine is looking for an experienced Manual Machinist for either first or second shift. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 or more years of machining experience.Microwave Techniques is a global leader in high-power microwave components, industrial microwave systems, and RF solutions. Microwave Techniques legacy dates back to the inception of microwave technology.Microwave Techniques LLC is a subsidiary of The Elmet Group (ELMT), a publicly traded company.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Experience with all machine shop operations to include:Effectively operate lathes, mills, Bridgeports, drill presses, routers, etc. (Including specialized production equipment after an instructional period).Prototrak/Centroid type controllersSet-up and fixturing for manual machinesAbility to optimize feeds and speeds for all machining operationsMaintain adjustment of machine(s) to produce consistent quality productInterpret specifications and blueprints required for manufacture and perform dimensional verification using appropriate measuring devicesMeasure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixturesUse of safe lifting techniques and lift-assist equipment as appropriatePerform preventive maintenance of machines and machine tools to maintain precision machining operationsMachine "one-of-a-kind" pieces from blueprints or sketchesSet controls to regulate machining, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control mediaCalculate machine speed and feed ratios, and the size and position of cutsInsert control instructions into machine control units to start operationRequirements:3 or more years' experience as a Manual Machinist PreferredKnowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goodsStrong attention to detail and ability to follow safety procedures.Strong time management and organizational skillsStrong planning and documentation skills, detail focusedAbility to work in a fast-paced deadline driven production environment.Ability to perform mathematical calculations including converting fractions to decimalsAbility to lift up to 50lbs and perform physically active workAbility to interpret blueprints, setup sheets and work ticketsWillingness to cross-train and adapt to shifting prioritiesWhat can you expect from us?A comprehensive employee benefits package effective day one, including health, dental, and vision insurance, company paid life, supplement life, company paid short and long-term disability insurance, AD&D critical illness and accident insurance401K plan with employer matchDiscretionary bonusesPaid time off (PTO)9 Paid holidaysTuition reimbursement & training opportunitiesEmployee recognition programEmployee safety equipment/tool purchase programThis role is for First Shift: Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pmConsistent with the provisions of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and the Maine Human Rights Act, applicants may request accommodations needed to participate in the application process.Equal Opportunity Employer.
