Job description
Apply advanced mechanical design expertise to help train next generation AI systems through production ready CAD models, drawings, validation reviews, and technical documentation.
Role Overview This remote contract opportunity focuses on advanced mechanical design for manufacturing. You will use FreeCAD or a comparable parametric CAD platform to design, document, and validate components and assemblies that support intelligent design tools. Prior AI experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities Create and revise detailed parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies.
Produce comprehensive engineering drawings, including GD&T and tolerance stack ups, for manufacturing handoff.
Design for sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, plastics, and injection molding.
Conduct CAD validation and quality assurance reviews to confirm model accuracy and production readiness.
Prepare clear technical documentation and assembly instructions for AI model training reference materials.
Incorporate technical reviewer feedback to improve CAD models and supporting documentation.
Qualifications At least 2 years of experience designing mechanical components for manufacturing environments.
Advanced proficiency with FreeCAD or similar parametric CAD software, including modeling, assemblies, and drawing generation.
Experience with sheet metal, CNC, plastics, and injection molding design considerations.
Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturing practices.
Ability to create production grade CAD models and evaluate them against real world manufacturability criteria.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for precise documentation and collaborative work.
Work Terms Remote contract engagement.
Compensation $40 to $100 per hour.
