Job description

Job SummaryAmfas International is looking for a senior manufacturing engineer to serve as the technical authority behind the products we build. Amfas supplies Cast, CNC Machined, Forged, Welded, MIM, Stamped, Plastic injection, and Assembled industrial components through a global supply base. We own a North American assembly and third-party logistics facility, and work with partner factories around the world.

Please read the information in this job post thoroughly to understand exactly what is expected of potential candidates.

This role reviews customer designs, determines how parts should be made, guides tooling and fixture design, selects and suggests materials and processes, and sets the technical standard our supply base is expected to meet.

This is a senior individual contributor role with no direct reports. Engineering team coordination and program scheduling stay with engineering management. This position exists to provide technical depth: walking shop floors at our facility and at suppliers, evaluating process capability, and leading root cause on difficult quality and process failures. It is also a customer liaison role, joining customer engineering calls, presenting findings, and visiting customer sites to keep Amfas aligned with what the customer needs. The position is remote in the United States or northern Mexico and travels 25 percent or more.

Position ScopeOwns technical decisions: process selection and routing, tooling and fixture direction, material selection, and design for manufacturability judgment.

Provides technical evaluation when new suppliers are being considered. Finding sources and selecting suppliers stays with the sourcing and commercial team.

Technical mentor to Amfas engineers globally, with no supervisory responsibility. Program timelines and engineering team management stay with engineering management.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesServe as the senior technical authority on manufacturing processes across machining, casting, fabrication, and assembly.

Review customer drawings, models, and specifications, provide design for manufacturability guidance, and set the manufacturing approach and process routing for new parts, including material selection, secondary operations, and finishing.

Design or direct the design of tooling, dies, molds, gauges, and fixtures, review supplier tooling proposals, and approve design changes, drawing revisions, and deviation requests.

Provide technical review on new quotes, confirming parts can be produced as priced and identifying cost drivers, tolerance risk, and process alternatives.

Evaluate prospective and current suppliers on equipment, process capability, tooling practice, and engineering competence, and visit plants to verify parts are built to the agreed method.

Lead root cause analysis and corrective action on complex quality and process failures, and support APQP and PPAP activity including process flow, FMEA, control plans, and capability studies.

Act as the senior technical contact for customer engineering teams, and translate customer requirements into clear manufacturing requirements for the supply base. xhmxlyz
