Manufacturing Technician – OptimusAs a Manufacturing Technician – Optimus, you will help build the future of robotics on Tesla's Optimus production lines in Austin, TX. Working hands-on across highly automated assembly lines, you will be the go-to person who keeps processes running, responds rapidly when something goes wrong, and drives the improvements that turn a brand-new production system into a world-class operation.This is a rare ground-floor opportunity to help scale one of the world's most ambitious products from day one. If you think from first principles, thrive in fast-paced, high-ownership environments, and love solving problems no one has solved before, you'll fit right in and you'll help accelerate Tesla's mission to build a world of amazing abundance.ResponsibilitiesProvide daily coverage of Optimus production line processes to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operations, including a rapid response to out-of-control processes to minimize cost and maximize throughputLead disposition of non-conforming material produced by the production line and escalate as neededInvestigate and implement countermeasures to improve product yield, station uptime, and reduce aging WIPSupport Engineering and Manufacturing teams in improving and writing manufacturing instructions and rework proceduresExecute trials and analyze data under the direction of process engineers to qualify new processes, calibration procedures and equipmentTrial new parts and processes alongside the New Product Introduction (NPI) team and support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiativesCollaborate with cross-functional teams: Production, Engineering, Quality, NPI, and Maintenance to enhance manufacturability, line productivity, and overall operational performance. Perform quality audits to proactively identify potential issues, partnering with the quality teamRequirementsAssociate Degree, technical certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience in a manufacturing environmentExperience with highly automated equipment, robotics, or precision/high-volume assembly a plus.
