Job description

The employee shall provide Support Services for maintenance, overhaul and upkeep of rigid hull inflatable boats for the USCG, USN, MSC and other Government agencies. The candidate must be able to support services for nonsupervisory work involving the dismantling, repairing, relocating, modifying, maintaining, aligning, and installing of a wide variety of marine machinery, equipment, and systems. The service is for systems such as propulsion machinery, propellers, etc. The work requires a practical knowledge of the mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components of diverse marine machinery and their attachments.

nThis includes detailed knowledge of the operating characteristics of the involved machinery, equipment, and systems; their functional relationships; the applicable installation and repair procedures, methods, and trade practices; and the unique environmental conditions under which work is performed aboard marine craft, for example, the lack of space between bulkheads and decks and the proximity of one type of machinery to another.

nDuties and Responsibilities:

nnnCollaborate with a team performing mechanical repairs and maintenance on government vessels.

n

nnPerforms equipment and component assessments and repairs. Be able to identify failures and potential failures. Be able to assess the condition of boat and components

n

nnPerform repairs and replacements of small boat sponson collar systems

n

nnPerform all manner of mechanical and electrical repairs and replacements of trailer components.

n

nnPerform regular schedule boat maintenance to include the following: Oil and filter changes

n

nnPerform basic electrical troubleshooting, installation, and testing.

n

nnGreasing

n

nnComponent replacement

n

nnCleaning/ safety gear

n

nnComponent repair

n

nnConduct operational testing and quality inspections: Conduct operationally testing on the boat prior to delivery.

n

nnMaintenance Procedure Card processing

n

nnIdentify materials required for repairs and service.

n

nnManaging progress and ensuring the work is performed correctly and on time, according to required standards, per contractual guidelines.

n

nnInforming management of progress status and requirements.

n

nnTransport boat using company provided vehicle to pick up and deliver boats to and from client locations around the continental US.

n

nnMust be able to launch and recover boats for testing and evaluation

n

nnMust be capable of operating a forklift safely

n

n nDesired Skills and Abilities:

nnnFamiliar with Mercruiser bravo series outdrives

n

nnFamiliar with Caterpillar Marine Deisel engines

n

nnFamiliar with Mercury Outboard engines

n

nnFamiliar with Hamilton jet drives

n

nnFamiliar with Cummins QSB 6.7 marine engines

n

nnFamiliar with other various marine propulsion diesels under 300hp

n

nnFamiliar with DC Systems and schematics

n

n nJob Qualifications:

nnnMust have High School Diploma.

n

nnMust possess minimum of seven (5) years of experience as a marine mechanic.

n

nnMust have or be able to obtain current USCG approved boating course certification.

n

nnMust have or be able to obtain a passport.

n

nnRequires experience using various Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and excellent communication and organizational skills.

n

nnPrior experience with RHIB for federal or USCG boats is desirable.

n

nnMust provide a clean driving record.

n

nnMust provide your own tools and tool box.

n

n nExperience:

nnMarine Mechanic: 5 years (Required)

n nTravel:

nnCONUS and OCONUS Travel is required for this position. Travel will occur up to 10% of the time. Full per diem and company paid travel is provided.

n nSecurity:

nnMust pass a standard background check.

n nPhysical Requirements:

nnnMust be able to work in an office, industrial or shipboard environment.

n

nnCapable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature.

n

nnLifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.

n

n nPlace of Performance:

nnnThis task shall be performed in the Industrial Park Area in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at our boat warehouse and repair facility.

n

nnTravel to include OCONUS locations.

n

n nThe anticipated hiring range for this position is $25.00 to $35.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and geographic location
