Summary
This position is located in the Receiving/Distribution area of the Logistics Service at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), VA Medical Center, in Leeds, MA. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of functions, including determining workflow, develops/oversees development plans for storage, verifies space, consolidates materials, ensure changes are shown in blueprints/schematics.
Responsibilities
***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Major duties and responsibilities will include: Consolidates materials and provides maximum space utilization and protection of materials; Plans and reviews priorities to ensure supply, equipment, tools, and employees are assigned for each task. Identifies resource needs to overcome obstacles. Recommend changes to schedules, priorities and work sequences in planning work assignments. Supervising work through subordinates leads in the oversight of one or more product lines in a large warehouse. Assigning workflow for timely performance of assignments; Inspects completed work for quality and compliance with original requirements; Conduct performance ratings, training, disciplinary actions, changes and changes in performance standards Investigate grievances and complaints, resolve informally and notify supervisors. Communication between departments, employees, and customers Ensures the safe receipt, storage and movement of hazardous and toxic materials and substances. Serves as the senior leader of warehouse projects. Manage receipt and delivery of supplies, expendable and non-expendable equipment. Develop plans for storage and stock arrangement. Verifies the space utilization. Provides technical direction to maintain the warehouse in a neat, clean and orderly manner. Selects specific storage locations within framework of general warehousing plan; Maintains appropriate documentation for tracking and reporting on work assignments. Maintain work reports, records, and appropriate documentation. Subject matter expert on relevant regulatory requirements. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the WS-5 level, you must meet the following: SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (SCREEN-OUT) - A Selective Placement Factor (SPF) has been identified for this position. Experience required for this position includes: supervising a group to accomplish assigned projects and daily operational functions; planning the workload, equipment, facilities, materials and tools to use; answers questions on overall work operations and issues; independently carry out assignments and planning daily workflow of a warehouse. PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work involves considerable walking, pushing and pulling a variety of carts and materials handling equipment; offloading and loading trucks, lifting products on and off shelves, handling boxes frequently weighing over 40 pounds; handles equipment, furniture and materials of an awkward and heavier nature in excess of 100 pounds (typically using specialized equipment and/or assistance of co-workers). Greater physical effort may be required on projects involving the movement of large quantities of products over an extended period including turn-ins, large shipments and deliveries. While operating vehicles, may be required to exert a greater level of physical exertion while backing and turning trucks, operating forklifts or hand trucks on uneven terrains and uncertain conditions. WORK CONDITIONS: Requires working in storage buildings, pods, trailers, vehicles and warehouses that may be hot, cold, drafty and poor lighting; work outdoors, on docks, making deliveries in all types of weather conditions during all seasons; hazardous materials may be encountered in daily work activities; will be subject to the possibility of trips, falls, scrapes, cuts, bruises or injury from the use of equipment; may be subject to conditions that could result in serious accidents; personal protective equipment may be required.
