Mechanic, Class E - Electrical
The Superintendent invites qualified and interested candidates to apply for the position of Mechanic, Class E - Electrical. Requirements and qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, knowledge of modern electrical practices, materials, and equipment, four years' experience in the mechanics/maintenance craft, a valid New Jersey driver's license, a black seal license, and the ability to perform tasks relating to other industry trades. The role also requires knowledge of basic regulations governing safety, effective communication skills, and the ability to perform tasks that require frequent heavy lifting. Experience with typical office equipment is required, along with a criminal history background check, physical, and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
Major responsibilities include expediting all work orders, keeping records on all projects, reading blueprints or technical diagrams, installing and maintaining wiring, control, and lighting systems, inspecting electrical components, and remaining in compliance with the current National Electric Code. The role also involves demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving skills, recognizing the importance of safety in the workplace, and being available for weather-related and general emergencies.
The physical and environmental demands include frequently moving items weighing up to 50 pounds, lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, and reaching. Environmental conditions may include exposure to a range of illnesses, extreme temperatures, atmospheric conditions, noise, interruptions, and cleaning agents.
This position reports to the Foreman/Facilities Operations Officer and is evaluated by the same. The salary range is Communications Workers of America (CWA) Mechanic E Salary Scale, with a minimum starting salary of $39,851.01 and a maximum starting salary of $56,149.75.
