Job description
The ideal candidate is a skilled underground mining maintenance professional with experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic mining equipment. They must hold a current MSHA electrical certification and have hands-on experience with continuous miners, haulage equipment, feeders, scoops, and roof bolters. This individual can read electrical schematics, blueprints, and service manuals, perform welding and fabrication work, and maintain equipment in compliance with MSHA regulations. They are safety-focused, dependable, and committed to keeping mining equipment operating efficiently to support safe and productive mine operations.
What you will do:
As a Mechanic III, you will inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems on underground mining equipment to ensure safe and reliable operations. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose equipment issues, read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and service manuals, and complete repairs on equipment such as continuous miners, haulage equipment, feeders, scoops, and roof bolters. You will maintain equipment in compliance with MSHA permissibility standards, document maintenance activities, and support safe, efficient mine production while adhering to all company policies and mining regulations.
Experience & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current MSHA Underground Electrical Certification required, including high-, medium-, and low-voltage systems.
Minimum one year of underground mining experience.
Strong knowledge of state and federal mining regulations, including electrical permissibility requirements.
Proven welding and fabrication experience.
Demonstrated ability to operate, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot underground mining equipment, including continuous miners, battery haulage equipment, feeders, scoops, roof bolters, and other section and outby equipment.
Ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues using blueprints, electrical schematics, service manuals, and parts documentation.
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills with experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
