Job description

Mechanical AssemblerThe Mechanical Assembler builds industrial sweeping machines by following detailed work instructions and using a variety of hand and power tools. This role involves assembling hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical subcomponents across multiple assembly stations, progressively adding major systems such as brakes, tires, engines, lift arms, radiators, hoses, harnesses, sheet metal, and hoppers to complete fully functional equipment.ResponsibilitiesFollow written work instructions and diagrams to assemble industrial sweeping machines accurately and efficiently.Use hand tools and power tools, including screw guns, sockets, and wrenches, to assemble mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components.Perform mechanical assembly tasks at four distinct assembly stations, each requiring approximately 4–5 hours of labor to complete.Install and assemble major systems such as brakes, tires, engines, lift arms, radiators, hoses, wiring harnesses, and subassemblies.Electrify the machine by correctly routing and connecting electrical components and harnesses according to specifications.Install sheet metal panels and the hopper as part of the final assembly process, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and secure fastening.Inspect parts and assemblies during each station to verify quality, fit, and function, and report any defects or issues.Use mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot minor assembly issues and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation.Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety procedures and guidelines in a safety-conscious environment.Collaborate with team members across assembly stations to ensure consistent workflow and timely completion of machines.Essential SkillsDemonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and follow detailed assembly instructions.Hands-on experience using sockets, wrenches, nuts, bolts, and other common mechanical fasteners.Proficiency in operating hand and power tools, including screw guns and basic power tools used in assembly work.Ability to perform mechanical assembly tasks involving hydraulic, electrical, and heavy assembly components.Experience in mechanics, such as military mechanics, trade school training, hobbyist mechanical work, or experience in manufacturing settings.Capability to work through progressively more complex assembly stations while maintaining accuracy and quality.Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety in a manufacturing environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with hydraulic assembly and heavy mechanical assembly is highly beneficial.Familiarity with engine repair or engine-related assembly work is an advantage.Previous experience in clean, organized manufacturing or assembly environments.Training from trade schools focused on mechanics, industrial technology, or related fields.Experience gained through mechanical hobbies such as automotive repair, equipment rebuilding, or similar hands-on projects.Experience in structured environments such as the military or other disciplined technical roles.Why Work Here?Employees appreciate the climate-controlled, consistent work environment and the opportunity to work with supportive, collaborative colleagues. Work is organized into four or five stations where multiple assembly processes are completed at each station, allowing for variety and hands-on involvement in different stages of the build. The facility is well lit and safety conscious, with a climate-controlled environment that supports comfort and consistent productivity. The position operates on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional overtime of approximately 3–5 hours per week. Attire is typical for a manufacturing environment, emphasizing practical clothing suitable for working with tools and equipment while adhering to safety guidelines.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Dundee, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
