Job description
Aircraft Assembly TechnicianResponsible for and has experience with solid, hollow and hollow pull type meeting a min of 80% of Time Standards and with less than 10% of rework of all assemblies, riveting, assembly methods, and common shop practices. This position is also responsible for assembling, modifying, and installing aircraft components, sub-assemblies, and structural assemblies per customer requirements, and for identifying nonconforming parts, conditions, and manufacturing processes by performing the following duties.ResponsibilitiesWorks with blueprints, specs, and work orders and assembles to meet quality requirements.Completes required data gathering to facilitate assembly progress.Sets up and runs various shop equipment, such as squeezes and precision measuring tools, including drill motors and countersink cutters.Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot any problems that occur, while continually looking for process improvements.Performs any and all required rework or changes incorporated during assembly process.Demonstrates the ability to assemble major components of sub-assemblies, major assemblies, as well as smaller bench work assemblies.Provide suggestions to correct identify problems in workmanship and processes:Frequent use of CIP (Continuous Improvement Program)Torque CalibrationTorque TestingPush Out TestingProficient in Operation Set-Up95% acceptance of Process VerificationMoves and obtains correct parts, materials, tools, and assemblies.Demonstrates a team player attitude and a willingness to assist others to help support continuous flow of product add willingness to take direction.Works in timely manner to meet schedule requirements.Ensures product is conforming before presenting to quality.QualificationsKnowledge & Skills:Perform simple work assignments, often receptive in natureBasic Computer SkillsAbility to work in a fast paced team environmentAbility to sort, check, count, and verify numbersBasic use of hand and measuring devices (i.e.: calipers, micrometers & height gauges)Education/Experience:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Specialized Training:Six months vocational training.Work Environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
