Summary

Perform bench-type processes to complete mechanical and electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies, using hand tools, and electronic and pneumatic tooling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assemble and test according to blueprints, diagrams and specifications using hand tools, power tools, precision instruments and test equipment

Read blueprints and technical orders to determine methods and sequence of assembly operations

Examine parts for surface defects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor

Align, fit and assemble component parts into completed units using hand tools, power tools fixtures and templates

Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to blueprint specifications using precision instruments such as calipers, etc.

Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations

Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision

May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shift from one station to another during the assembly processes

Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Minimum High School diploma or general education degree (GED)

Minimum of 6 months of hands-on assembly experience

Experienced and familiar with electro-mechanical assembly processes and associated tools/instruments

Must have experience reading assembly drawings/diagrams and completing work to specifications

Require minimal supervision to successfully complete tasks and assignments

Must demonstrate initiative and ownership of assignments/projects

Must report to work at the scheduled time and maintain satisfactory attendance with limited unscheduled absences

Must exhibit a professional appearance and behavior and maintain satisfactory performance consistent with expectations of the position and GMS policies

Requires excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing with executives, colleagues, and individuals, internal or external

Must possess strong interpersonal skills, able to effectively interact with all levels of employees and management

Must remain poised, professional, and diplomatic under pressure

Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Must possess the ability and desire to encourage and facilitate a positive and productive work environment for all employees

Must be able to work the standard 8 AM-5 PM, Monday - Friday schedule and overtime as required

Limited travel required

The employee regularly engages in personal interaction with company personnel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus and utilize a computer monitor under fluorescent lighting and/or daylight where applicable.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Employees will use manual inspection tools to perform duties such as a microscope.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock.

Must be a US Citizen, Permanent US Resident , or currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without current or future employment sponsorship .
