Job description

Engineering Manager – Systems Engineering (Water Treatment) Hybrid, Seattle Area Based

Not sure what skills you will need for this opportunity Simply read the full description below to get a complete picture of candidate requirements.

The engineer who sees the whole system and makes sure it gets built, tested, shipped and switched on right the first time.

We're are representing a well-funded, fast-growing water technology company on a mission to make the world's most valuable resources circular. They help some of the world's largest companies recover and reuse the wastewater they generate, using award-winning proprietary desalination technology that treats streams others write off as impossible. Now they need someone to own how their commercial systems come to life. To start and lead this new division of the business!

The role

You'll be the technical owner of their skid-mounted industrial water-treatment systems, designed and fabricated with third-party engineering, integration and manufacturing partners. You'll take customer, process and product requirements and turn them into systems that are buildable, testable and serviceable, then lead delivery from concept and vendor selection all the way through FAT, SAT, commissioning and handoff.

This is a player-coach role. Early on you'll lead mostly through external partners and cross-functional influence. As they scale, you'll have the chance to build an internal systems engineering capability from the ground up.

What you'll do

Turn design bases, customer needs and site constraints into system architecture, PFDs, P&IDs, specs, control narratives and complete engineering packages

Lead engineering firms, integrators and fabricators — setting scope, deliverables, interfaces, schedules and acceptance criteria, and holding them to it

Review and approve multidisciplinary design across mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and controls

Make the system-level calls that balance performance, safety, cost, manufacturability and schedule — and know when to bring in a specialist

Run multiple programmes at once: schedules, budgets, risk registers, change control and timely escalation

Lead FAT/SAT, punch-list closure and commissioning, then turn field lessons into standard designs, templates and better systems

We are looking for:

8–15 years delivering complex skid-mounted capital equipment from requirements through commissioning — ideally in industrial water treatment or process systems

A track record of delivering systems built by external engineering firms, integrators or contract manufacturers

Fluency across mechanical, electrical, controls and process — enough to challenge assumptions and spot risk, without needing to be the deepest expert in each

Confidence reading and marking up PFDs, P&IDs, GA drawings, one-lines, panel schematics and I/O lists

The ability to set expectations with suppliers and hold them accountable

A degree in mechanical, chemical, environmental, electrical, controls or systems engineering (or similar)

Bonus points for

Experience with membrane, RO, ion exchange or other advanced water-treatment technologies

Time at an EPC, packaged-system integrator or engineered-to-order skid builder

Team leadership, mentoring or building an engineering function

PE, PMP or systems-engineering credentials

Startup or high-growth experience

Compensation Package:

Competitive salary and bonus, 401(k) with company contribution, health, dental and vision insurance, paid time off and parental leave, life insurance, and real investment in your professional development. xzgxqkn There is also opportunity for relocation from within the UK/Canada.

If you want end-to-end ownership of systems that put industrial water back to work as well as be able to own and grow a new division of one of the most exciting companies in the water industry, apply now!
