Job Summary and Responsibilities
nHas accountability for the patient care unit or service. The major responsibilities are in providing leadership and communication, monitoring the work environment, assuring quality, managing the fiscal budget, managing human resources and ensuring the delivery of competent clinical practice.
nLeadership
nnnFacilitates staff to assume leadership roles via role modeling.
n
nnDemonstrates positive leadership skills and communication which results in achievement of outcomes.
n
nnArticulates departmental goals and objectives which allows staff to actively participate in clinical decision-making.
n
n nWork Environment
nnnFacilitates the achievement of a high quality work environment.
n
nnEnsures that appropriate equipment and supplies are available.
n
n nQuality
nnnParticipates in unit programs, documents results, reports by deadlines, and formulates corrective action plans for improvement.
n
nnMeets established research-based standards of care and Leads quality improvement projects.
n
nnDevelops a multidisciplinary program to monitor quality care indicators.
n
nnMaintains a consistent score of good on selected department items on customer service survey.
n
nnDevelops and reviews Departmental Policies and Procedures.
n
nnParticipates in chart review audits.
n
n nFiscal Management
nnnMaintains fiscal budget, overtime, orientation costs, SSP costs and medical supply costs.
n
nnAdjusts staffing patterns according to unit activity and patient acuity.
n
nnAnalyzes budget variances
n
nnDevelop and manage the unit budget
n
nnIdentifies major hospital cost savings opportunities.
n
nnIdentifies new revenue-producing opportunities.
n
n nHuman Resources
nnnSupports Shared leadership.
n
nnFacilitates professional growth and development of staff
n
nnDemonstrates accountability for human and material resource management
n
nnComplies with personnel policies and procedures
n
nnOversees orientation of all new employees.
n
nnEnsures that payroll is accurate and timely.
n
n nClinical and Professional Practice
nnnEnsures effective delivery of competent, compassionate nursing care.
n
nnDevelops clinical experts in the patient care areas.
n
n nJob Requirements
nnnBachelor's Degree and Registered Nurse required
n
nnStarting in January of 2016, any new hires should have: Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 3 years leadership experience or minimum of 5 years leadership experience in the discipline or Master's Degree and no experience
n
nnMinimum three (3) years clinical leadership experience required
n

nPay Range
n$49.78 - $82.14 /hour
